Breg House Slovenia

BregHouse.com began as a place for me to share the progress of the Breg House project, over a decade ago. Now it’s a place where I write about this amazing country that I now call home: see my Slovenia blog.

Built of stone and wood, Breg House is a renovated kašča (pronounced kash-cha) and is over 300 years old. A kašča is a traditional structure, typical to the Koroška region of Slovenia. They were often part of a farm and were used for curing meat and storing produce.

The house was bought by me and my brother in 2007. We had grand plans to renovate it but things didn’t quite go to plan (at least initially). However, over the last decade, the project has evolved considerably.

Note: Breg House is not for rent.
